CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION: LA 1223 Use of Computers in Landscape Architecture (3)
(Prerequisite: none) One hour lecture and four hours lab. A review of computer technology and its application to the practice of landscape architecture.


COURSE GOAL: To ensure that students are exposed to technologies that are rapidly becoming commonplace tools within the practice of Landscape Architecture.


COURSE OBJECTIVES:
On satisfactory completion of this course students will:

  • Develop an understanding of the current technology available to landscape architects.
  • Review periodicals that are technology specific.
  • Capture information using traditional Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools.
  • Use SketchUp to create 3D volumes
  • Use Photoshop to publish graphic reports
  • Explore other visualization tools

2-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) using AutoCAD


Using SketchUp to create, view, and modify 3D ideas


Using Photoshop to compose and publish graphic ideas
